Working at A BAR OF THEIR OWN

Thank you for your interest in working at A Bar of Their Own, the Midwest’s first sports bar to exclusively show women’s sports! As we work to build our team, we are looking for individuals who find joy in creating memorable experiences and are inspired to be a part of something different. This isn’t just another restaurant job—we are part of a movement to change the game for women athletes and their fans, and if that excites you, we want you on our team. All roles will be starting part-time with a desired 20-30 hours/week schedule, with the potential to increase to full-time based on performance and availability. Please note mandatory training times listed below; at this point, we need applicants who can commit to these times. Additional roles will likely be available once we have additional training support.

BACK OF HOUSE ROLES

Mandatory paid training for BOH roles will take place February 5-7 and February 15-16, 9:00am - 4:00pm.

Kitchen Lead - $22.50/hour

  • Assist the Assistant General Manager in hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising kitchen staff.

  • Ensure all kitchen staff are properly trained, following food safety/sanitation guidelines, and accurately preparing orders.

  • Maintain the efficiency and safety of the kitchen by promptly storing food deliveries and monitoring food quality and presentation.

  • Manage kitchen inventory, ensure equipment is working properly, and maintain a clean kitchen environment.

  • 1-3 years in kitchen management required; SafeServe Food Handler Certification preferred.

Line Cook - $20.00/hour

  • Prepare food orders safely and efficiently while adhering to specified recipes and food safety standards.

  • Assist in stocking food, storing deliveries, food preparation, inventory checks, and maintaining food storage logs.

  • Clean and sanitize cooking surfaces and equipment throughout shift and perform daily cleaning tasks at the conclusion of each shift.

  • Must be capable of working effectively as a team member in a fast-paced environment.

  • 1-3 years of kitchen experience preferred.

FRONT OF HOUSE ROLES - NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

Mandatory paid training for FOH roles will take place the week of February 12:

  • Servers/Hosts: February 12 or 13, and February 15-16 (9:00am - 4:00pm)

  • Bartenders/Barbacks: February 14-16 (9:00am - 4:00pm)

Server - $15.57/hour + tips

  • Provide high-quality service to guests throughout the dining experience by taking food and drink orders efficiently and accurately using a Toast POS system.

  • Assist in various tasks throughout the restaurant, such as delivering orders, aiding in food preparation, and daily cleaning tasks.

  • Must possess strong customer service skills and be capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic math proficiency for payment handling and cash transactions is required.

  • 1-3 years of previous serving experience required.

Bartender - $15.57/hour + tips

  • Provide high-quality service to guests throughout the dining experience by taking food and drink orders efficiently and accurately using a Toast POS system.

  • Ensure safe and legal service of alcoholic beverages by checking identification and monitoring consumption of guests.

  • Must possess strong customer service skills and be capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prepare in-house recipes, stock garnishes, clean glassware, and maintain a clean bar.

  • Knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and standard drink recipes preferred, 1-3 years of previous bartending experience required.

Host - $16.00/hour

  • Welcome and seat guests, manage the waitlist, and maintain communication with the kitchen and serving staff.

  • Maintain the efficiency of the restaurant by contributing to table clearing, delivering orders, and providing general assistance to serving staff.

  • Must possess poise, professionalism, and patience by utilizing effective communication skills with guests and staff.

  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills required.

  • 1-3 years of previous experience strongly preferred.

Barback - $15.57/hour

  • Provide support to bartenders by replenishing liquor bottles, changing kegs, and assisting in keeping the bar area clean.

  • Maintain the efficiency of the restaurant by contributing to table clearing, delivering orders, and providing general assistance to bar staff.

  • Collect and clean used glassware and stock bar essentials such as garnishes, straws, and napkins.

  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to lift heavy items (2o pounds or more) and stand for extended periods.
